JUST A LITTLE LESS OBVOIUS
i confess, tonight i'm dressed up in gold
Alexandria still doesn't get why her parents wanted her to be apart of Gemara so much. She doesn't really like horses much. She doesn't even know how to ride well... Her parents were just over-pushy over this whole thing and now here she was. She went from being the number one at everything of the people around her, to being the amateur everyone laughed at. Her horse is named Lady Marmalade, and Lexi is positively frightened of her. It comes as a major embarrassment that her family sent her to a place that she knows nothing about and now everyone is laughing at her because she can't ride a horse to save her life. Let's start at the beginning, shall we? Alright.
Alexandria, or preferably Alexa or Lexi, grew up in a quiet and simple environment. Her family lives on a one hundred twenty three acre plot of land in Maryland, and they own several horses, something that would make people think that Alexa would know how to ride... if only she hadn't spent her whole life avoiding the horses. She even threw a fit when her dad got her Lady Marmalade for her ninth birthday. Alexa loves books and dogs, defiantly not horses. She grew up on the farm, playing with her two dogs, Argos and Cerberus, instead of the horses. She got Argos as a little yellow lab puppy when she was only ten years old, naming him after Odysseus's faithful sea dog. And, Argos lives up to his name. The moment that the clock strikes three o'clock, Argos walks out the front door and lays at the top of the steps of the front porch, knowing that Alexa will be home at three fifteen. When she was thirteen, she found her other dog, Cerberus, caught in a thorn bush by the little lake on the Meadows' land. The little black lab welcomed her as a friend, and they stuck.
Alexa learned quickly what was going on when her parents started packing up her bags. The first thought that ran through her head was that she was going to get killed because her parents wanted a proper rider in the family. She knew what happened at that school. People got so thirsty for power and winning that people could have horrible things happen to them. It was exactly the opposite of what Alexandria wanted. She wanted to go to school and be a normal girl with a rich family. Not a professional horse rider. Yet, there she was, being shipped off to riding school.

Alexandria always thought how funny it was that you hated your home until you had to leave it, then you would have done anything to be standing under the pure-crystal chandelier, with your bare feet wiggling on the cool, hardwood floors of the foyer as the dogs jumped all over you. Or, at least that's what she was wishing she was doing that moment instead of driving up the driveway of Gemara Manor. No offense to the school... she just wasn't a horse person. The smell of horse poo and carrots filled the Lincoln town-car, making Alexa give her mother a you-HAVE-to-be-kidding look before sighing out her nose and looking out the window with a grumble. "Alexandria? Please sit up straight!" her mother snapped, fixing the perfect cookie-cutter blond bun on top of her head.
Alexa usually loved how her mother looked, which bared a resemblance to Barbie, but right now? No. She was bubbling with hate for her mother, so much hate that she'd been sending hate-thoughts to her as they drove. She shifted herself and glared out the window at the horses grazing around in the grass, clomping their big, furry lips as they licked the ground. She turned away in disgust, turning around and looking down at the rhinestone-covered cellphone in her hands, sending a quick text message to her best friend, Charlie, in Maryland. Charlie was the sweetest girl you could find, and was so sad when Alexa broke the news to her. "UGH. We r here. Horses everywhere." the message read.
Alexa pressed send and let her head fall back on the leather headrest, groaning. "Mooom," she moaned, looking at her mother out of the corner of her eyes. "I just wanna go home." she said truthfully, giving her mom a pleading look as the car stopped. Lizanne Meadows just gave her daughter a look before stepping out of the car and looking around. Alexa sighed and opened her door, muttering her feelings of hatred towards her mother before getting out of the car.
