Personality:
Tommy is generally a very sweet horse, but when she knows she is about to be fed she can be a little nippy and stubborn. She has awesome ground manners and is absolutely phenomenal on the flat. She is a little hesitant with jumping if you don't find her distances for her, but if you know where her buttons are, you will be amazing with her. Her jump is extremely scopey and careful. She's very fast and does great in the jump offs. She is heavy with your hand, but is very responsive. You don't even really have to use spurs with her. Only if she is being lazy and stubborn. She needs an intermediate rider and up, because she doesn't exactly know how to take care of a beginner rider. She can also be playful while under saddle, so you have to have a good seat and strong arms. As well as good balance. In the stall after Tommy is fed and everything, she is the sweetest and most cuddly horse. In her old barn, everyone loved her. Tommy loves to be around other horses and makes a wonderful playmate for horses. She is good with lunging, the vet, the farrier, but gets a little irritated with the dentist. She is generally very tolerant with all the barns cats, dogs, and other small critters that roam the place.
History:
Tommy was born in California. She was born at a small community barn extremely early in the morning. When she was born, her legs were skinny but very long and her body was very thin. She had a hard time getting up, but managed to do it. She shook her body and looked around. As soon as she got the grasp of using her legs, she went to momma and started to have a good meal of fresh milk. A day later, they allowed them both to go out and play in the pasture a little while. They both had fun and ran around. She tripped a couple of times, but that was completely normal. She sniffed the cats and stopped just to watch the dogs bark and walk around like they own the place. Tommy sure was a curious and fearless little thing. Ever since she was a Filly she went fast. She went fast when in the pasture, the turnout, and sometimes even her stall she paced back & forth. Like every mother, Tommy's mom watched over her everyday and every night. If another horse got near Tommy, she did a small buck and wasn't afraid to scream and bite. She was actually more protective than any mother at the stables. Even when the barn dogs or even cats went up to Tommy she did a small buck. That was usually enough to scare them away.
Once Tommy became an adult, she was fully trained and completely beautiful and well proportioned. They free jumped her and she showed awesome potential. Then after about a year of training, she was ready to show and be bought by a good owner. She was much more matured and well behaved than when she was a Filly. She also grew tremendously. They finally figured out that she stopped growing at 16.2 hands though. Than after about 2 months from being for sale, Violetta came and bought her the second day from trying her. They were obviously a perfect match for each other. Both of their personalities were surprisingly sort of the same. Violetta signed the check and took her home after her vet check, which was only five days after she signed the check. Her curiousness certainly showed a huge amount when she got out of the trailer. Her ears were perked and her head was held high in interest and a bit of fear followed since she has never traveled for such a long time in a trailer. All the way from California to Kentucky is a lot of effort, but they made it through just fine.
